About me
Spider in the IT-web.
Vibecoder, IT manager, strategist.
Team player, generalist, hobbyist.
The people that know me call me energetic, a good sport, and always fun to be around. I'm chaotic, at least on the inside. That's why my work is so well organized. I love learning. Just anything new is almost always fun. The bright side of life is how I tend to look at things, the glass half-full mentality. I am always looking for ways to simplify and automate things. There isn't enough time in this world to only be doing the boring things.
How I got here
Work in progress. Yes, me as well. But I'm talking about this chapter of the website, thank you very much.
Sometimes, questions are worth more than answers.
Beyond the screen
Even though I love spending time "behind the screen" even in my spare time on things like teaching myself how to host a small kubernetes cluster, or just casually playing games. Those hobbies are partly reflected in my projects overview as well. So here we spend a little paragraph or two on Mick beyond the screen.
As a young dad free time is a limited commodity. On the one hand, I have the best new hobby ever: spending time with my kids. At the same time, I do have less Mick-time, and that time often has to be spent at home more than before.
Games! That's a big one. I like board games, but not those simple ones. It needs to be strategic, challenging, and fun. Co-op is a favorite genre, due to the replayability even with different skill-levels. And chess. God I love me some chess.
Table top roleplaying games is a big one as well. D&D, just to name the most known game of this genre. I love imagining characters, settings, or even entire worlds. And learning a new set of rules? That's almost as fun as playing it.
Sports come and go. The Gym last year, surfing before that, and
bouldering before. I think kickboxing will probably be next. But I'm
still open to any sport I've never really done before!
The most unique one? That's probably rowing.
My work is usually sitting behind a desk, and working with my brain. So to switch it off, I do love working with my hands as well. Simple garden work, building something with wood, placing Ikea furniture. Turning off the brain in favour of using my hands can be a real blessing.
